UPDATE: Eaton Fire Case Management Gets One-Month Lifeline as September 30 Shutdown Is Delayed ALTADENA, CA | September 29, 2026 Eaton Fire survivors will not lose disaster case management services on September 30 as previously expected. California has found enough remaining state funding to potentially keep the program operating through October 31. The development gives thousands of Los Angeles wildfire survivors additional time with case managers who help navigate FEMA appeals, insurance, housing, Small Business Administration assistance, financing and rebuilding. But the extension is temporary. The underlying federal funding dispute remains unresolved. WHAT CHANGED? The Disaster Case Management Program had been scheduled to lose funding September 30. Contractors were notified that existing California funding can now be stretched for approximately another month, potentially keeping services operating until October 31, 2026. 100 Days to a Key Eaton Fire Claim Deadline: What Survivors Need to Know ALTADENA, CA | September 29, 2026 Eaton Fire survivors are approaching an important legal milestone. January 7, 2027 is now just 100 days away, and that date may be critical for certain claims against Southern California Edison. A September 29 report from Pasadena Now highlights the approaching two-year anniversary of the Eaton Fire and a free survivor town hall being held tonight by LA Fire Justice. The coalition says January 7, 2027 is the cutoff it is using for filing Eaton Fire cases involving the two-year California statute of limitations. JANUARY 7, 2027 The date may be particularly important for personal injury, emotional distress and wrongful death claims arising from the Eaton Fire. But January 7 Is Not a Universal Deadline This is where survivors need to be careful. Different Eaton Fire claims can be governed by different statutes of limitation and different rules...

Judge Tentatively Rejects Edison International's Attempt to Exit Eaton Fire Lawsuit.

Judge Tentatively Rejects Edison International's Attempt to Exit Eaton Fire Lawsuit ALTADENA, CA | September 22, 2026 A significant development in the Eaton Fire litigation could keep Edison International, the corporate parent of Southern California Edison, directly involved in the massive lawsuit moving toward trial. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Laura A. Seigle indicated Tuesday that she is unlikely to grant Edison International's request to remove itself as a defendant in the consolidated Eaton Fire litigation. Edison International filed a motion for summary judgment arguing that it does not own, control or operate the Southern California Edison equipment at the center of the case. Judge Seigle's tentative ruling concluded that Edison International had not met its burden of demonstrating that it bears no responsibility for the fire. WHAT HAPPENED TODAY? Edison International asked the court to let the parent company out of the Eaton Fire la...
